The site itself is nearby the Howard County Fairground and is located on private farmland. The income from leasing the property will help the landowners continue farming the rest of their property for their local farm business. The solar farm will be about 12-acres in size, and have solar-tracking technology that allows the panels to follow the sun’s path during the day. Additionally, the solar farm will hold a well-maintained pollinator-friendly habitat, and an additional 4-acres of native plants and trees will be planted around its perimeter. The Friendship Solar farm will be providing clean, local solar energy to over 570 residential homes and small businesses in the Baltimore Gas & Electric utility territory.
